This year’s calendar is about women at the moment they awaken—to art, to beauty, to grief, to ambition, and to the possibility of becoming someone other than who the world expected them to be.
The twelve paintings wander through the lives of women who gathered artists and ideas around them, making salons and homes into places of discovery and transformation. Sarah Stein stands on a hill above the burning city of San Francisco, a Matisse under her arm. Peggy Guggenheim escapes Europe with crates of art.
