Celebrating Anni Albers

and the culminating of a year long project….

I am thrilled to announce that on Wednesday, January 10, I will be concluding my exploration of ten remarkable, yet often overlooked, females from art history with a special feature on Anni Albers. Join me on the Inspiration Arts Group International YouTube channel for an insightful discussion about the life and legacy of this pioneering weaver and teacher.

Anni Albers' story is one of resilience, creativity, and the transformative power of art. Born into a wealthy Jewish family in Germany, she was compelled to emigrate due to the ominous rise of Naziism. Albers' life intersected with two experimental educational institutions, the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College, which became crucial platforms for her to shape the trajectory of textiles and modernism.

For the past year I have endeavored to shed light on the incredible contributions of remarkable women artists, and Albers stands as a testament to the profound impact one can have on the world. Her writings have fundamentally altered our perspectives on textiles and, by extension, the world around us.

As I reflect on this journey, my library has become more balanced in gender representation. I am humbled and inspired by the resilience and creativity displayed by the women we have covered. Their stories illuminate a path of overcoming obstacles, leading lives true to their spirits, and creating lasting legacies.

This exploration is just the beginning; there are countless more stories waiting to be discovered. I encourage you to continue seeking out women leaders in various fields and to share your findings. We can draw strength from their struggles and celebrate the richness of their contributions.

It's important to remember that these women didn't walk their paths alone. They were supported by their friends and allies in influential positions. Likewise, we don't have to navigate our journeys in isolation. Let us collectively lift the waters under our boats and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive world.

Thank you for joining me on this enlightening journey. I look forward to exploring more stories of resilience, creativity, and inspiration together.
